Eleanor Craig, our guest speaker, is know across the southeast as “The Fern Lady”. Based out of Cedar Bluff, Alabama, her small specialty nursery known as “Fern Ridge Farms” ships all of the county, offering over 75 varieties of hardy garden fern, as well as select annuals, tropical ferns, perennials, natives and many fern companion plants. She was previously located in Canton, Georgia. The nursery’s exhibits and garden displays have earned numerous awards at Atlanta’s Southeastern Flower Shows. Eleanor presented all of those attending with a handout on 24 different types of ferns with their individual info on zones and growing conditions. She also brought many of these ferns for show and tell. On Monday, April 16, Bobbie Hicks subbed for Dr. Ed Bez who was called out of town. She presented a talk on Medicinal Uses for Bible Plants. Bobbie was extremely informative, sharing her knowledge of Biblical plants as well as essential oils for various medical conditions. She is a 20 year veteran Master Gardener from Rockdale County and is a member of the International Biblical Botanical Garden Society. Related Images:

Our speaker, Greg Freeman. presented “A Century of Daffodil Hybridizing: Using Advancements in Color, Form and Size to Advantage.” He explored how gardeners can use daffodils, new and old, to enhance their gardens and landscapes and educated us all on the many, many different daffodils that are historic, classic and new. Freeman is an author, editor, singer and songwriter. An avid gardener, he grows a variety of plants, and is a daffodil exhibitor, hybridist, and judge.
