Master Naturalist, Kathryn Kolb, Director of the EcoAddendum, spoke at our June 15th meeting. She explained the accidents of history that gave metro Atlanta its exceptional urban forest and natural areas, from parks to backyards. She also shared how to identify our highest value old growth forest remnants—which, we heard, might be closer than we think. She discussed ways to protect our high value natural landscapes and native species amid the building trends and clear-cutting which affect our landscapes today.
