It was a great Saturday morning at George and Jeannine Nash’s home volunteering for a Weed and Feed. We got almost everything on George’s wish list done! We trimmed the many hydrangeas, fertilized, weeded, cleaned the rocks around the pond and tidied up both front and back. Master Gardeners who participated were Aida Rosa Galarza, Beth Powell, Karen DePew, Shirley Bohm, Jackie Kujawa, Suzanne Franklin, Bonnie Smolinski and Becky Wolary. Related Images:

2013 Grant – Kistner Center
The project began the restoration of a second garden, a woodland garden particularly special to Mary Kistner which she called her Secret Garden. The project continues the key concepts emphasized by Georgia Piedmont Land Trust (GPLT) which is to highlight the use of native plants, here for a beautiful shade garden effect and habitat value; and to emphasize the importance of removing exotic invasives – including species used for ornamental purposes. This project continues GPLT’s initiative to refurbish the gardens of a well-known, highly respected Gwinnett community member in a manner consistent with her artistic vision.
