“Taking pictures is savoring life intensely, every hundredth of a second.” (Marc Riboud, French photojournalist). Whether you savor life through the lens of an iPhone or a Leica, learning how to take better photos can capture a moment in ways that make it even more meaningful. On July 16th we hosted an evening of fine art photography with a presentation by the Georgia Nature Photography Association (GNPA) Judge Eric Bowles. Eric shared tips on how to create more artful compositions, and showcased the winners of this year’s GCMGA photography competition. Many of our members are not only master gardeners but also avid nature photographers. There were winners in ten categories – birds, close-ups, digital art, first-time submitters, gardens, harvest, landscapes, plants, still life and wildlife. June 2018 Monthly Meeting
Container gardens are perfect for small spaces and for adding dimension to a landscaped space. Master Gardener Judy Peacock shared her secrets for eye-catching compositions in her presentation “The Artful Container Garden” at our June meeting. Judy’s lifelong love of nature and her natural creativity blend themselves abundantly in beautiful container gardens. Her designs can be surprising and are often whimsical, with many everyday items incorporated in unexpected and inspiring ways. During her presentation, this North Fulton Master Gardener completed containers to be given away at the end of the evening. Related Images:
Gwinnett Extension 2018 Awards Luncheon
On May 31st, the Extension Office honored many of our member Master Gardeners at a pot-luck luncheon. It was a chance to visit with fellow gardeners and recognize so many folks who contribute their time in our county. GCMGA awarded new members from the 2017 Trainee Class with their own aprons.
