Edible Gardening This is a great garden to visit if you like gardening with edibles! One of the first things visitors see upon entering the backyard is a cozy bench in the shade of a muscadine arbor. A productive vegetable garden is attractive with the addition of colorful flowers and decorative touches. An efficient composting system provides nutrients to amend the clay soil. Blueberries, raspberries and blackberries line the back of the property. A charming potting shed creates a focal point toward the back of the yard while providing Shirley a great space to start her seedlings. Vines Park – Hidden Gem This park on the eastern edge of Gwinnett County is a hidden gem! The park consists of 25 acres of gardens that once surrounded a private estate. March 4th was a perfect day for Master Gardeners and friends to brush up on their fruit tree & vine pruning skills. Steve Brady, our retired Gwinnett and Cobb County Agent, demonstrated proper pruning techniques for the group at McDaniel Farm Park orchard. Related Images:
2015 Metro Atlanta Trainee Breakfast
GCMGA’s Trainee Breakfast Committee headed by Karen McGinty kicked off Gwinnett’s sponsorship of the breakfasts on March 11th. Providing breakfast goodies, snacks and desserts for the trainees is a tradition that spans back many years. The breakfast sponsorship rotates through the participating metro-Atlanta counties. Many GCMGA members contribute various food items to the breakfast which will be continue for the next two weeks. Karen, along with Susan Smith, Carin Ashman, Betty Songer and Betty Mastley form the committee this year. Related Images:
