MAY — Rose Guerra, a naturalist/environmental educator, was our guest speaker for our May 16th meeting at Bethesda Senior Center sharing her knowledge regarding Dragonflies and their Habitat. Rose gave us a lighthearted introduction to the Dragonflies and Damselflies of Georgia, their beauty and contributions to our environment. Rose currently contracts with several environmental organizations, including Atlanta Audubon Society, Dunwoody Nature Center, Blue Heron Nature Preserve, City of Sandy Springs Rec/Parks, Chattahoochee Nature Center to share her knowledge of many species in Georgia. May Garden Tour 2022
Saturday, May 14, 2022 — Our Garden Tour titled: “Gardening for Beauty and the Environment,” was the place to spend a Saturday. Blooming in Gwinnett County in our six gardens displayed… A community vegetable garden surrounded by pollinator plants A half acre garden certified by the National Wildlife Federation A half acre garden with vegetables, pollinator plants and many flowers A large garden by a lake with vegetables and flowers and certified by the Audubon Society A two acre garden with blueberries, vegetables, pollinator plants and many flowers A demonstration garden at a commercial establishment growing vegetables and flowers. It’s May! May is the best month for vegetative propagation because there are more plant options now. I’ve included a list of plants and their recommended method of vegetative propagation in May.
