FEBRUARY —- Dr. Tim Smalley, Josiah Meigs Distinguished Teaching Professor Emeritus, UGA, was our featured speaker for our noon meeting at Bethesda Senior Center on February 21st. Dr. Smalley discussed his project documenting the Significant Trees of Georgia and showed pictures of various trees that are situated throughout Georgia. These are trees with historical and horticultural significance, and trees on public and private land. A horticulturally significant tree is a unique species or is an outstanding specimen for the locale. A historically significant tree is associated with a historical site or has “witnessed” a historical event. Related Images:
