Anthony Gobert, Horticulture Program Assistant at Gwinnett Technical College and Owner of Pro-Green Grounds Management shared some thought provoking ideas in his presentation entitled “Extending Your Growing Season; Endless Harvest” at our July 15, 2013 meeting. Attendees enjoyed Tony’s talk and asked many questions. Tony received a Bachelor of Arts degree at Southern University and Agricultural and Mechanical College at Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and an Associate of Arts, Applied Horticulture and Horticultural Business Services degree from Gwinnett Technical College. June 17, 2013 GCMGA Monthly Meeting
Our June 17, 2013 meeting featured Peter Jenkins. Peter Jenkins, AKA “Treeman”, one of Atlanta’s earliest arborists certified by the International Society of Arboriculture and a founding member of the Georgia Arborist Association, educated us on how to inspect our trees for possible problems and how to care for these wonderful shade-providing friends in our yards. May 20, 2013 GCMGA Monthly Meeting
The May 20, 2013 GCMGA Monthly Meeting at 7 PM presented Virginia Webb as our speaker. Master Beekeeper, Virginia Webb, talked about the importance of pollinators and their status in north Georgia. Virginia received her first beehive in 1964 and has been an enthusiastic beekeeper ever since. She and her husband, Carl, are full time commercial beekeepers and queen breeders. With all this knowledge and her passion for pollinators in general, this was a very informative talk. Her topic is “The Importance of Pollinators”. Related Images:
