Our May 15th meeting featured Kirk Simpson who has been growing carnivorous plants for 20 years, after beginning the hobby as a science project in the 6th grade. He now operates Atlanta Carnivorous Gardens out of his backyard in Snellville where he opens his gardens for tours, interactive demonstrations and purchases one weekend per month during the growing season of May – October. Kirk specializes in native, temperate carnivorous plants which can be found throughout the Southeastern U.S., with a particular emphasis on North American Pitcher Plants (Sarracenia) as well as Venus Flytraps and Sundews.
