Snellville Community Garden Award
Led by our own GCMGA Member and Garden Manager, Wes Nettleton, the Snellville Community Garden was recently awarded $1,500 from the 2020 Food Well Alliance Community Garden. Wes is quoted as saying “We are extremely appreciative to the Food Well Alliance for their financial backing to community gardens throughout the Atlanta metro area.” “Through this effort we can support the local area and expand our opportunities to educate both young and old about the environment.” Wes’s team includes Lucy Nettleton and Martha Whitman, also GCMGA members…… Congratulations to all. 30 Years!
We’re proud to say that our association has its 30-year reunion in 2023! Few fellowships survive that long, but our association has. Started to gather like folks – gardeners – together to socialize and to share knowledge by Don Freidus and Gail Holliman, we started small and have continued to grow in membership over the years. We’ve learned from each other by gardening together on workdays and community gardens and from our monthly programs. We’ve formed fast friendships over the years. Many members have undergone Master Gardener training and quite a few members chose to participate as friends of master gardeners – but all of share this love of gardening…… and we hope it continues another 30 years!
